A new production of Les Mis will open in Toronto. Toronto Star quotes Cameron Mackintosh: "You're going to have a completely new, all-Canadian production opening at the Royal Alex in July, 2012."
According to the article, the new production will be a replica of the 25th Anniversary production, which has so far been seen in the UK, briefly in Paris, in Spain and touring the USA. After staying in the Royal Alex for "a substantial period of time", the production will tour Canada. The timing of the tour will have something to do with the release date of the film (currently, set to December 7th, 2012).

The newspaper also has an interesting bit of information about possible casting:
"As for Bieber’s possible involvement, Mackintosh was asked if he would follow through on his London casting of Nick Jonas as Marius by replicating it here with our own home-grown pop superstar and his answer was, 'I would love to hear Justin Bieber sing Empty Chairs at Empty Tables. Please spread the word that he’d be more than welcome in the show.'"
While this doesn't by any means mean Bieber is confirmed to be cast... I would like to kindly advice Cammack to stop joking with things like this. I know the show needs all the publicity it can get before the movie, but after the Nick Jonas incident (it's been over an year from the 25th Ann. concert, by the way, and Les Mis turns 26 this Saturday!)... Not funny anymore.

To finish on a different note, Hugh Jackman has been interviewed by Entertainment Inquirer, about the Les Mis movie and more. He's quoted about...
...schedules: "We’re shooting next March -- We start rehearsals and recording in January and February. I’m actually going this month to start doing initial rehearsals."
...Russell Crowe: "I know Russell very well and I have great respect for him -- he’s incredible. I think he will be extraordinary in that role. Javert is a difficult part. The battle between Jean Valjean and Javert is really vital for this movie to work, so I’m really excited about it."
...his road trip to France: "I went to France this summer. I was so excited, like I was doing a road trip. We went 6,000 kilometers in this car. Wherever we went, the GPS told us the road we were on. So in the first town, I went, 'Look, this is Avenue Victor Hugo.' I stopped the car, got out and said, 'I’ve got to get a photo.' We got to the next town and I was like, 'There’s Avenue Victor Hugo!' I had no idea that in every town in France, the main road is Avenue Victor Hugo. So don’t come to a slide show night of my trip to France. It’s very boring."

Closing with that, have a great weekend, everybody! I know I will, I'm celebrating Les Mis's birthday by seeing it...

I hope THAT STUPID KID won't be cast. Please just be a false rumour. Besides, I thought they were only going to cast British actors. And Bieber can't act, no way.

If Beiber is cast, I WILL NOT SEE THE MOVIE. NO WAY, NO HOW.

Oh, phew! Still, I doubt anyone will want to see the Canadian production, really, if that stupid kid is cast as Marius, everyone will laugh. He'll make the whole show some kind of a joke. I just hope that guy was kidding. I really really do.

There hasn't been any news about the Canadian production for a while - I've a feeling Marius is not the only role Cammack has difficulties casting!

:iconsulkplz:....My whole life of being a Mizzie will be shattered if Bieber is Marius!!!! I feel so sorry for Cosette and especially Eponine. I don't think I can handle this!!! Even though Nick's acting WAS atrocius (and that's coming from a Jonas brothers fan) he still sang fine and looked like Marius; he is better than Bieber!!! PLEASE ANYONE BUT JUSTIN!!! :tears:

NO. Just...NO. That should never happen. Nick Jonas should never have happened (in that role, I mean), LET ALONE...ewww. Nick may not have been been a great choice for the role - or any role in something like Les Mis, for that matter - but at least he's something similar to good-looking, and I'd imagine Marius is supposed to be quite a handsome youth. But stick Bieber in there...he doesn't even LOOK the part, couldn't sing for anything and, seriously, is too young to try to attempt such a role. Sure, Marius is young, but...this guy isn't mature enough to attempt acting. I'd choose even Nick Jonas' version of Marius over Bieber any day...and that's coming from the person who felt like she was going to die because Nick Jonas destroyed something Michael Ball created...final word: NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *scream*

I've never been to Canada, and don't plan on it anytime soon, but if they make Justin Beiber Marius, I will go up there and start doing very illegal things.

BIEBER HAS GOT TO BE A JOKE. :/ And besides, I think Bieber would have major losses if he decided to join the cast of Les Mis in Canada... ??? He can make lots more with disney, or concerts, or whatever.

I love the stuff Hugh said about Russell and France. I wonder how the two will sing this thing, but I'm so excited it's actually happening! (what about the rest of the cast??!)

I think we all agree on the fact that Bieber (shudders at even typing the name) is definitely not someone we want playing Marius. I mean, come on, the guy's a pansy and all that nonsense but to give his role to that overrated pop-star would be a disgrace. I don't think I could handle another sissy with an under-developed voice belting out love songs. >_<

Well, if they pick Bieber, they probably het loads of hysterical fangirls, all for free!
For my sake, I don't care (what happens in Canada, stays in Canada :P) but for every Canadian Mis-lover, I seriously hope that it was, indeed, a joke.

And yeeesssss, I can't wait for the Confrontation, sung by Jackman and Crowe!
(And it's totally true what he says about those streets. :P We also have several ones in Belgium. And a subway-station with his name.)

I can deal with Bieber performing in Canada. I thought this meant Biebs would be in the movie. And I rather like J. Biebs, but I don't really want him in Les Mis. I also don't want to have to share the movie theatre with screaming fangirls (well, screaming non-Mizzie fangirls ^_^' )

No. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOOOOOO! :furious: :fork: NOT BIEBER AS MARIUS!!!!!! Although there is a Miz role that would suit him... He would be a magnificent Little Cosette!

I have survived Jonas (after all, he didn't butcher "Empty Chairs At Empty Tables" as much as I expected) to see... THIS?! :bleh:
